Paper Pattern & Syllabus

For Undergraduate Programme

  • Maximum Marks     : 200

English including comprehension

The English section will test the candidates proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar in the comprehension section. Candidates will be questioned on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.

General Knowledge and Currents Affairs

The General knowledge will be tested on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current affairs will test candidates on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.

Mathematics

This section will test candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e. math’s taught up to 10th Standard.

Legal Aptitude

This section will test candidate’s interest towards study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.

Logical Reasoning

The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.

For Postgraduate Programme

APPLY ONLINE - CLAT 2016









 

 










Admission Procedure

The admission to UG and PG programme in participating universities under CLAT-2016 shall be done through centralised counselling conducted by CLAT office. The basis of allotment of seats shall be ‘merit-cum-preference’. That is, CLAT score and order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form. Online counselling shall start after the declaration of CLAT-2016 results. The entire procedure shall be completed as per the CLAT calendar which is available on CLAT website.
The stepwise procedure which shall be adopted by CLAT office after declaration of result for admission is as follows:

STEP 1

Publication of first indicative list based on merit cum preference
The university-wise first indicative list based on merit-cum-preference will be published on CLAT website.

STEP 2

Payment of counselling fee and exercising of option by provisionally selected candidates
  1. A specified number of candidates from various categories will be allowed to participate in the counselling process against actual number of seats available with participating NLUs.
  2. The provisionally selected candidates must deposit the requisite counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/-.
  3. The adjustable counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- deposited with the CLAT office will be transferred to the respective participating NLU where the candidate has taken admission finally after the completion of the entire admission process.
  4. The candidates failing to deposit the requisite counselling fee through the CLAT website by the specified date will lose their right to be considered for admission under CLAT-2016 and their names will be dropped from the CLAT-2016 merit list.
  5. The candidates have to reserve their seats after paying the counselling fee by following the procedure prescribed in counselling guidelines given on the CLAT-2016 website.

STEP 3

Publication of second list having the names of finalized candidates after payment of counselling fee and additional waitlisted candidates
  1. The CLAT office shall publish a second list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seat in the participating NLUs.
  2. A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released in the second list who are provisionally selected against dropped out candidates, if any.
  3. The additional candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- and reserve their seat within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT calendar.
  4. The provisionally selected candidates can withdraw from the admission process within stipulated time as per the CLAT calendar. A nominal fee of Rupees 10,000/- will be deducted from the deposited counselling fee
  5. Any withdrawal after the stipulated period will result in forfeiture of entire amount of counselling fee.

STEP 4

Publication of third list allotting seats to candidates
  1. The CLAT office shall publish a comprehensive third allotment list of candidates who have paid their counselling fee and reserved their seat in the participating NLUs.
  2. The comprehensive list shall include the name of candidates who have paid the counselling fee against the first and second indicative list.
  3. A list of waitlisted candidates will also be released along with the third allotment list who are provisionally selected against dropped out candidates.
  4. These candidates are also required to pay the requisite counselling fee and reserve their seat within the prescribed time period as per the CLAT calendar.

STEP 5

Completion of admission formalities at the allotted NLUs
  1. After the candidates are finally allotted seats in participating NLUs, they will be required to approach the allotted NLU with the balance amount towards the admission and other fees.
  2. The candidates will also have to carry relevant certificates/documents in original issued by the competent authority in support of the various claims made by the candidates, during the scheduled periods given in CLAT-2016 calendar and complete their admission formalities.
  3. The certificates in original will be checked by the respective universities at the time of their admission. (For detailed information/updates about the scheduled dates, the candidates must refer to CLAT-2016 calendar as updated from time to time).
  4. The candidates not possessing the required certificates/documents in original or failing to meet the eligibility requirements will not be allowed to seek admission in participating NLUs.
  5. The candidates seeking admission under various categories specially those belonging to the reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC/Specially abled person/DFF/NRI and the unreserved category candidates seeking admission under state domicile category, will be required to obtain the relevant and authentic certificates/documents from the competent authorities and produce the same at the time of admission in the concerned NLU.
  6. Those candidates who fail to report at the allotted NLU after the publication of CLAT merit list and fail to complete the admission formalities as per CLAT-2016 calendar will automatically lose their claim for admission and their entire amount of the counselling fee of Rs. 50,000/- will be forfeited.

The States of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland & Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system.
 

Instructions and Procedure for online submission of Application Form for JEE(Main) - 2016

1. Please read the instructions, procedure and Information Bulletin carefully before you start filling the Application Form.
2. Candidate can apply for JEE(Main) - 2016 ‘ON-LINE’ only through official website of JEE(Main) (www.jeemain.nic.in).
3. Please ensure that you are filling genuine Application Form available online at JEE (Main) website (www.jeemain.nic.in).
4. Please ensure your eligibility as per the criteria laid down for JEE (Main), JEE (Advanced) and participating State Institutions (as applicable).

In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit cards, the candidate will need to pay an additional processing charge as following
Credit Card: 1.20% of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable.
Debit Card: 0.75% + taxes for examination fee up to Rs. 2000 and 1% + taxes for examination fee more than Rs. 2000.
(2) Application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances.
6. The fee may be submitted either by any credit/debit card or through e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank.
7. Candidate is allowed to submit only one Application Form. Multiple Applications of a candidate are liable to be rejected.
8. Application Procedure: 3 Simple Steps to be followed to apply online
Step 1: Fill the Online Application Form, choose your Password and note down system generated Application Number.

The candidate should supply all the details while filling the Online Application Form and also required to choose PASSWORD and Security Question and enter his/her Answer. After successful submission of the data, Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and also required for all future correspondence. For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with his/her respective system generated Application Number and chosen Password.
Step 2: Upload Scanned Images of Photograph, Signature and Thumb impression:

  • The scanned images of photograph, Signature and thumb impression should be in jpg/jpeg format only.
  • Size of the photo image must be greater than 4 kb and less than 40 kb.
  • Size of the signature image must be greater than 1 kb and less than 30 kb.
  • Size of the thumb impression image must be greater than 1 kb and less than 30 kb.
  • Dimension of photograph image should be 3.5 cm(width) x 4.5 cm(Height) only.
  • Dimension of signature image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.
  • Dimension of thumb impression image should be 3.5 cm(length) x 1.5 cm(Height) only.

NOTE : The Candidate will be able to modify/correct the particulars before the payment of fees. Once the payment of fee has been made / e-Challan downloaded, candidate particulars cannot be edited.
Step 3: Pay Examination Fee by debit/credit card or e-Challan of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC Bank  :

  • Payment by Debit/Credit Card: The candidate has to select Debit/Credit Card option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee. After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the acknowledgment Page. In case the acknowledgment page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and amount will be refunded to the candidate account with in a week and however the candidate has to make another transaction till the Acknowledgment Page is not generated


  • Payment by Bank e-challan: The candidate has to select bank (Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/HDFC) to deposit the application fee through e-Challan mode. As soon as he/she selects, an e-Challan will be generated containing specific details of the candidate along with amount to be paid. The candidate has to take a printout of the same and take it to the nearest branch of the selected bank for making payment. After the confirmation of fee deposited from Bank/CBSE, the candidate will be able to print the Acknowledgment Page. In case the Acknowledgment Page is not generated, the candidate should contact the concerned bank/branch to update his/her transaction.
9. Selection of date/slot of Computer Based Examination of Paper - 1:
The candidate, who has opted for Computer Based Examination of Paper – 1, should select the date/slot after payment of Examination Fee. The candidate, who does not select the date/slot, will be allotted the date/slot on random basis depending upon availability.
10. Important Instruction about PASSWORD
  • During online form filling, candidate will be required to choose PASSWORD and Security Question and its Answer. Candidate is advised to record/remember their password for all future logins.
  • The Password must be as per the following Password policy.
    • Password must be 8 to 13 character long.
    • Password must have at least one Upper case alphabet.
    • Password must have at least one Lower case alphabet.
    • Password must have at least one numeric value.
    • Password must have at least one special characters eg.!@#$%^&*-
  • For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with their respective system generated Application Number and the chosen Password.
  • Candidate is advised not to disclose or share their password with anybody. Neither CBSE nor NIC will be responsible for violation or misuse of the password of a candidate.
  • Candidate can change his/her passwords after login, if desired.
  • Candidate should remember to log out at the end of their session so that the particulars of the candidate cannot be tampered or modified by unauthorized persons.
  • How to reset your Password : The following options are available to reset Password
    • Using Security Question & its Answer you chosen during Form filling .
    • Using a verification code sent via text message (SMS) to your Registered Mobile No.
    • Using a reset link sent via Email to your Registered Email address.
11. All correspondence related to JEE (Main) – 2016 should be addressed to the Executive Director, JEE (Main), Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE), Plot No. 149, Block - H,Sector - 63, Noida - 201309, Distt- Gautam Budh Nagar (U.P.).
12. The application no. printed on the computer generated Acknowledgement Page must be mentioned in all such correspondences. It is therefore essential to note down the application number printed on the Acknowledgement Page.

II. APPLICATION FORM –
The aspiring candidates have to apply online only through JEE (Main) website
www.jeemain.nic.in. The online application process will start from 1st December, 2015 onwards.
The last date for application is 31st December, 2015. The eligibility criteria for JEE (Main) & JEE
(Advanced) are different. The candidates are requested to read the information bulletin carefully
and themselves ensure their eligibility as per the criteria laid down for JEE (Main) as well as JEE
(Advanced).

GPAT 2016

GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST (GPAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) every year as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. This test facilitates institutions to select suitable Pharmacy graduates for admission into the Master’s (M.Pharm) program. The GPAT is a three hour computer based online test which is conducted in a single session.The GPAT score is accepted by all AICTE-Approved Institutions/University Departments/Constituent Colleges/Affiliated Colleges. A few scholarships and other financial assistance in the field of Pharmacy are also given on the basis of the GPAT score. The GPAT 2016 will be conducted on 17th January 2016.

Admission criteria to Undergraduate Engineering Programs at NITs, IIITs, Other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other Institutions shall include the performance in the class 12/equivalent qualifying Examination and in the Joint Entrance Examination, JEE (Main). The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.
The States of Gujarat, Nagaland, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Odisha have joined JEE (Main) system. Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main) - 2016 application form online.
